Poster Printing Guidelines

Academic Department Professional Development Poster Printing

The ITC prints academic posters for scholarship, research and professional presentations.  Requests for student projects and class assignments will be referred to the College Library.  All other posters will be referred to Central Printing Services.

Please proof posters carefully before asking to have them printed.  The ITC does not print a second poster due to errors.

The College Poster Printing Policy can be viewed at the Large Format Printing Policy page.

Requests should be made at least four-days prior to date needed. Some posters take longer to print and turnaround time depends on graphics used and background colors. For best possible service, we offer the following guidelines and helpful hints:

  • PowerPoint or PDF format preferred.
  • Set the size you would like the poster to be in Page Setup, before creating the poster.
  • Maximum size is 42 inches wide and 56 inches in length at 1200dpi. In PDF format length can be extended beyond 56 inches.
  • You can bring posters to the ITC on a CD, on a flash drive, or send the poster as an email attachment to itc@potsdam.edu
  • A Printing Request Form (click to download, PDF 106KB) must be submitted with each poster.

Student Mentors

The ITC hires student assistants who are competent in several programs and can mentor faculty with questions on using computer hardware and software.  The list of applications may vary each semester depending on the student knowledge base.  The student mentors do not have set schedules but instead will schedule appointments whenever they can meet one on one with faculty and staff at a time that is convenient for both parties.

During the fall 2010 semester, one student will be available in the ITC, Stillman 105 on Tuesdays from 2 pm to 4 pm for drop in appointments. Or you can contact the ITC at x4820 or itc@potsdam.edu to set up an appointment that is convenient for you.

Basic use of the following applications is available:

Microsoft Word
Powerpoint
Excel
Web development via WordPad or Dreamweaver
Audacity
Photoshop
Adobe Acrobat (basics)
Eclipse - a programming text editor for java

Note:  The student assistants are also willing to explore other programs as needed.
