Men's Hockey Weekend Preview


The men’s hockey team continues SUNYAC play with two games this weekend. Friday’s game is against Cortland at 7 pm and Saturday’s game is against Oswego also at 7 pm.

The Bears are 3-4-3 (2-2-2 SUNYAC). Potsdam played in the Skidmore Invitational last weekend. They went 1-1 as they lost to Williams College 3-2 and defeated Suffolk 9-1.  Connor Treacy leads the team in goals with nine and points with 17. Luke Beck is the assists leader with 10.

Cortland is 4-5-1 (2-3-1 SUNYAC).  They defeated Brockport 6-4 in their last game.  Patrick Palmisano is the leading goal scorer with five. 

The Bears won at Cortland last season 4-2 in the first meeting on November 2 and played to a 5-5 tie in Potsdam on January 25.  The teams met a third time in the SUNYAC quarterfinals at Potsdam with the Bears prevailing 7-2.

Oswego, which is ranked #7 in the latest USCHO Division III poll, is 7-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the SUNYAC.  The Lakers last played in the St. Norbert Thanksgiving Tournament and went 1-1 defeating defending NCAA Champion St. Norbert 4-3 and falling to St. Scholastica 5-4.  Ryan Ellis and Eric Selleck both have eight goals to lead the team and Brendan McLaughlin leads in assists with 11.

Potsdam lost both games last year losing 5-1 in Oswego and 6-0 in Potsdam.
